Hello, I am a 26 years of women dedicated her past 7 years to stray animals. My name is Nilay. Ever since I known myself, I see cats and dogs who needs to be fed and taken care of anywhere of the Turkey but especially in Diyarbakır, a southern part of the Turkey. In this city people are relatively more ignorant and even has hate towards cats and specially dogs because of their religious beliefs. They wont even touch dogs believing that they are haram meaning forbidden by religion. They don’t want them in cities and usually kill them or send them away to mountains where they can’t find even food or water. I’ve come to realize that this city need more help than many others in Turkey since there are not so much volunteers to help them. Me and my sister started regularly feeding and treating the animals but it was simply now enough. They had accommodation problems since adoption is rare here. We opened Badem’s Cat Shelter named after my recently passed cat. This simple apartment loft is the home and shelter of more than 100 cats all of whom spayed/neutered and vaccinated by us. All they have is two person in this world, me and my sister. We only wish to get a bigger place and open a dog sanctuary as well. All we need is founding which we don’t get as much in here. We are always in debt to veterinary clinics and dry food companies. Our resources are now enough to keep going on. Please support our goal and dream to rescue, feed, spay/neuter and vaccinate.
